The central cemetery is one the oldest funeral sites in Bogota, a place that provides the history of the city. Hundreds of stories show that people who visit their relatives in the central cemetery feel the presence of witches and ghosts. It is said that the ghosts are among historical figures, former presidents, businessmen, figures of Colombian history and common people. At the entrance is located an inscription in Latin that says “we wait the resurrection of the dead”.

Get to know the stories behind each grave and the cults that are in each of them. For example ,one of the most recognized tombs, the one of Julio Garavito, known for being the character of the 20 thousand peso bill.  People go to visit his tomb and rub him bills to have abundance of money and economic prosperity. On the other hand, in the cemetery is placed a golden sculpture from Leo Siegfried Kopp Koppel, the founder of Bavaria Company. The visitors go to the sculpture of the man and in secret they ask him favors for finding a job. Additionally, the tomb of two little girls known as the twins, is where people specially children go to ask for their health.

What catches the attention of the visitors in the cemetery is the zone known as “ el caracol”;the workers of the cemetery are afraid of it. It is said that some people enter there illegally to do witchcraft. Therefore, in that zone is where people have viewed more apparitions of ghosts and paranormal phenomena. Above all,  despite these paranormal events and stories, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Central cemetery and live the experience by your own.
